RE: Putting HTML/Flash files on AG

Hi Christian / Darren,

I did some testing on this and was able to get the flash quiz to work as expected in a text/html module.

A few things to note:
    - You will need to upload the swf file to the site using the File Manager tool in AdmissionsGenie.
    - I simply copied the HTML content into the "source" in the text/html module and made a few modifications.
    - The File Manager tool does not accept .js files. In order to make this work, I had to save the .js file as a .txt file and upload it that way.
    - You will need to make direct references to the swf and .txt files in the HTML file so the module is able to locate them.

Other than the items noted above, this was relatively easy to complete.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this at all!

Thank you,

Bryon Kuehn

Darren - Christian,

I'm thinking that would probably work best as you explained, in a Text/Html module.

It would be nice to test.

Christian, let us know if you can send the files in a ZIP. This way we can test and get back to you.

Christian-

When we discussed this previously, I thought we had determined that an import of content into the Text/HTML module would do the trick.  In order to fully answer your question, it is probably best if you send us the files in questions as a .zip file or similar archive, so we can answer the question and then share with you the actions to take in the future.

Does that work?

Bryon, anything to add?

Darren

Hi, Bryon,
We’ve got a couple flash-based quizzes that I’m creating for our search. When I export, it creates three files: an HTML, a .js file and a swf.

Several months ago, I had been in touch with Darren about trying to get one of these quizzes hosted on AG. We ended up doing it here on campus. But right now our campus web team is extremely understaffed, so I’m wondering if/how we might be able to get these on AG. Could you help me do that?

Does this even make any sense?

We’re hoping to send e-mails on Tuesday with links to the quizzes.

Yours,
Christian

Hi, Darren,
Orfa and I had a feeling it may have something to do with performance and resources.
Let us know if you decide to change the process times, as I’ve informed the counselors how it is working right now.

For us it is a balance of system tasks/performance and client (such as Creighton) expectations...as well as the users.

Regarding how often, we are already discussing what changes we should make and possibly adding additional times to the role promotion process.  We will use your feedback and share it in these discussions.

Hi, Bryon,
OK, that makes sense as to why our students weren’t auto-assigned initially.

So even though the match is instant, their role will not change until after the role calculation process is run. Is that correct?
Regarding better times to run the process: I don’t know what those would be. I think most of your students get on our website either after school (afternoon) or after extracurricular activities and homework (late night).

That being said, is it possible to run this process more often, like once an hour? At least after 4:00 p.m. until 1 a.m. or so. If student gets on our website, I’d hate to have to tell them they have to wait until tomorrow to actually do what they had planned on doing.

Please let me know if this can be changed.

Hi Christian,

After talking with the developers on this, I have a better understanding of how the matching and role changes work in the system.

When Alicia registered on the site, her web account was matched (linked) up with her imported data. This happens instantly if the matching criteria is met. The reason that her role didn't auto assign right away is that the role calculation process is scheduled to run twice per day at 6:02 AM and PM.

That being said, Alicia most likely registered sometime in between the two scheduled times and wasn't initially promoted in roles. The next time the role calculation process ran, (either 6:02 AM or 6:02 PM), she was then promoted to the correct role.

We are open to suggestions as to the scheduling of the role calculation process. If you have questions or concerns with the timing of this (or anything else) please feel free to let us know.

No, I don’t. I was contacted by one of the counselors who was IMing with the Alicia. So there was probably some lag time involved as I looked into it and tried to get some clarification from the counselor (10 – 15 min, total). Within that time the role didn’t change.
She was an admit, so she was was already in Recruitment Plus.

Hi, Bryon,
Thanks for coming on board with Creighton. I’m just going to jump right into an issue we had yesterday:
An admitted student, Alicia Connor, leash_89_08@yahoo.com, registered on the site. AG matched her. But it didn’t auto-assign her role. So I looked at her username today and her role was now auto-assigned. Do you know what could account for this? I thought that the match and role assignment was instantaneous.
