RE: Deleting a user

Hi Christian,

We only import those users who have changed in some way, shape, or form. That being said, if you delete an imported user using the user manager on the AG site, that student will not be included in the daily import unless their status or another attribute changes in the import file.

Let me know if you have any further questions with this at all.

Thanks,

Hi, Bryon,
If I delete an imported user, will they show up again after AG imports the data tonight?

RE: Hot Topics and Live Topics

Hi Christian,

I have a few updates for you on some of the items below.

1 & 2: The events module is currently being worked on by out implementation team. We hope to wrap this module up soon and get it through testing. For 2, forms and events in this context are the same thing. Once the Events module is released, your forms issues should also be resolved. There is a "forms" module already but is only available for post-login. Making this available to pre-login is on our enhancement list.

3. Has been resolved as previously discussed

4. We have recently updated blogs, however, to accomplish what you're looking for we'd like to gather a summary from you as to exactly what you'd like to do with blogs, and we can work with a developer to look into setting them up this way.

5. After talking with Darren, he believes that many of these items have been previously addressed. He is out of the office the remainder of this week but we will review the issues further when he is back in the office to see which have and have not been addressed.

Please let me know if you have any questions on the information from above.

Thank you,

I'm trying to research the other items in this list. Unfortunately most of them came up or were being discussed/handled before I took over the Creighton Support Role.

I'll try and hook up with the team and see if they can provide me some more information on the issues listed below.

Hi, Bryon,
I wanted to ask about a few things regarding the website:
  1. Events – Can I get  an update on this? The last time I checked, we were having the same issues  that we’ve had since November. Please see the Website Issues blog for details:  http://cuwebsite.blogspot.com/
  2. Forms – Do you know  if this module is ready to go? We’ve been having Jane Gleason create forms for  us because of issues with the forms. In all honesty, I don’t know what the  issues were as Orfa had mostly been working with James Tower on this. Anything  you can tell me would be useful.
  3. Role auto-assign –  Have you made any decisions about when and how often this can be run without  affecting performance of the site? Please let me know.
  4. Blogs – I would  still like to segregate the blogs so that we can have student, faculty and  staff and parent blogs. The last time I tried this, however, it created a  bunch of duplicate child blogs of those we already have. The blogging issues  are also all over the Website issues blog, http://cuwebsite.blogspot.com/
  5. Hot and Live Topics  on the Website Issues blog: As I have only invited you today to be a reader of  the Website Issues blog, you will not be aware that I have created labels for  the posts so that it is easier to see what issues are hot (urgent), live  (still to be addressed) and resolved. The hot topics are at http://cuwebsite.blogspot.com/search/label/Hot%20topics.  The live topics are at http://cuwebsite.blogspot.com/search/label/Live%20topics.  I would like to find out what’s going on with all of these  issues.
In light of the extent of these requests for information, it might be a good idea to have a conference call so that we can talk. No doubt things will come up that are not included in this email. Perhaps we can get Orfa in on it, too.
    Yours,
    Christian

Hi Christian,

In order for us to really confirm what's going on here, an actual student example would be best.

If you can have the student forward you a forgot password email that they had received, that would be ideal.

I'll keep you posted with any further information.

Hi, Bryon,
I have followed up with two students from last week. I have also asked the counselors to forward any information regarding other issues they've received.
The other step we can take to test this would be to send to AG a couple test accounts.
I could create them in Recruitment Plus this afternoon and send them with today's data. Then I could provide you information about the accounts in order to match the users. Then, James Tower could test the password theory.
How does that sound?
Yours,
Christian

Hi Christian,

Our developers have looked into this issue a bit more.

It appears this is occurring when the user's password is updated. However, since we're seeing this on an imported user account, the password should technically never be updated.

There are two possible explanations to this, A) either the admin is changing the password for these (which is not likely but possible) or B) it could be the forgot password functionality that is contributing to the problem.

We allow a user to request resetting their password by either entering a username or the e-mail address. Because more than one account exists with that e-mail address (in this case the web user and the imported user), we're thinking that whichever one is found first is going to be the one that the e-mail is referencing.

Is it possible to get some examples of reset password e-mails from one of the students you've seen having this problem?
I know you've mentioned a few students who are having this problem so I'm hoping you may be able to contact one of these students and provide us with the original forgot password email.

The developers are indeed working on a fix for this as we speak but we'd really like to get a hold of a forgot password email just to confirm.

Please let me know if you are able to provide us with an example.

Hi, Bryon,
I'm wondering if you've heard anything about this.
Each day brings more emails from students saying the same thing: they can't see the Jayspace links.
When I look into the AG users, I find that the imported values have some website values, but the users haven't been merged (as we've seen elsewhere).
Please let me know something tomorrow.

(As you can imagine, this is extremely vexing as we continue to promote this function of the website to our admitted students. I'm beginning to wonder if doing so is really wise. The trouble we're having seems to reinforce the legitimacy of Mary's hesitance toward publicly launching the social networking part of the admitted student area. While I don't think students will yield or not based on their ability to create an online profile [I'm not that naïve], I do think that a big part of my job is to make online interactions with Creighton easier and more enjoyable. Right now, I feel like that part of my job is hampered by AG issues.)

Yours,
Christian

I'll take a look at this for you.

Would you like us to manually link the two accounts (website and imported) together for this user?

Let me know.

Hi, Bryon,
I have been contacted by a student who has tried registering, but her information is not being matched with the imported information.
You can easily find her by email: colleen.patton@mac.com
At one point, she had registered six times, so she had six accounts. I deleted all of them, finally, and tried registering for her with the information we have in from the import, but that didn't work either.
Could you look into this and let me know why this isn't working?
Yours,
Christian

RE: User Not Being Matched 112917

Thank you,

Hi, Bryon,
I'm wondering if you've heard anything about this.

Subject: User Not Being Matched

Hi, Bryon,
I have been contacted by a student who has tried registering, but her information is not being matched with the imported information.
You can easily find her by email: colleen.patton@mac.com
At one point, she had registered six times, so she had six accounts. I deleted all of them, finally, and tried registering for her with the information we have in from the import, but that didn't work either.
Could you look into this and let me know why this isn't working?
Yours,
Christian

The Text/HTML module with the tab layout is stuck in ContentPane4 and I can’t move it.
Please help.

Hi, Bryon,
I'm wondering if you've heard anything about this.

Yours,
Christian

Hi Christian,

I'll take a look at this for you.

Would you like us to manually link the two accounts (website and imported) together for this user?

Let me know.

Thanks,
Bryon Kuehn

Importance: High

Hi, Bryon,
I realize that I've asked about a lot of issues in the last couple business days, but can I find out about this soon?
I've told Colleen that I'm looking into it, but I'd like to have some answer for her.
Yours,
Christian
